Endoscopic removal of renal and ureteric calculi using a flexible/ rigid ureteroscope usually with laser. Indicated for stones smaller than 1,5-2cm. May require preoperative stenting. May require more than 1 procedure.

Perctaneous Nephro-lithotomy (PCNL)

Endoscopic surgery with trans-cutaneous access through lower lumbar area. Indicated for stones larger than 2-3cm, situated in the kidney. Has a 90-95% chance of stone clearance in first go. Yet may require subsequent procedures. Is more risky than endoscopic surgery.

Non-invasive technique of shattering renal or ureteric calculi using sound waves. Calculus fragments then pass spontaneously. This service is only provided at Brisbane Private Hospital. More than likely to have more than 1 procedure depending on size calculus.
